Job Description

Teacher of Humanities

Location: Guernsey

Salary: Main/Upper Pay Scale + Special School Allowance

Contract: Full Time | Permanent

Teach Differently. Change Lives.

Are you a passionate Humanities Teacher looking for a role where relationships matter just as much as results?

We're recruiting for a specialist school that supports young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, offering an opportunity to teach in small classes where you can genuinely tailor learning to each individual.

If you're looking to move away from large class sizes and focus on making a lasting impact, this could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.

The Role

As a Teacher of Humanities, you'll deliver engaging lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, helping students develop academically while building confidence, resilience and positive relationships.

Working closely with Teaching Assistants and pastoral colleagues, you'll adapt your teaching to meet individual needs, creating an environment where pupils feel safe, valued and able to succeed.

You'll also contribute to curriculum development, monitor student progress and play an active role in the wider life of the school through pastoral support and collaborative working.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Deliver inspiring Humanities lessons across KS3 and KS4.
  • Plan engaging lessons that meet the needs of learners with SEMH.
  • Build positive relationships that encourage confidence and engagement.
  • Monitor progress and adapt teaching to support every learner.
  • Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, parents and external professionals.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and whole-school improvement.
  • Support students' personal development and wellbeing through a strong pastoral approach.

About You

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching Humanities at secondary level.
  • A passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs.
  • Excellent behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
  • A resilient, patient and adaptable approach.
  • A commitment to delivering outstanding outcomes for every learner.

Why Apply?

This is much more than a teaching position.

You'll join a supportive specialist setting where small class sizes, collaborative working and personalised learning allow teachers to focus on what really matters—helping young people overcome barriers, achieve success and realise their potential.

If you're looking for a rewarding teaching role where every day brings the opportunity to change lives, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply today or contact us for a confidential conversation.
