Market Insights
Can we help make your salaries meet the market?
Ask your question below and we will email you the figures. Four tools, one place, drawn from the placements we make and the vacancies we watch. None of it is a survey.
What a role actually pays
Salaries and rates agreed on placements we made in the last 24 months. Not what was advertised.
How we work these out
- Real placements, not a survey. Every figure comes off a placement we actually made in the last 24 months.
- Hourly and daily are the charge rate. What you pay us, with the worker's pay, on-costs and our margin inside it. That is the number to budget against, and we hold it on virtually every contract placement.
- Permanent is the salary itself. A permanent placement has no charge rate: you pay the person directly and a separate fee to us, so the salary is your cost of the person.
- Five placement minimum. Below that we publish nothing, rather than a number one unusual deal could move.
- Regional where we can. Region comes from the client's own location, which we hold for 96% of placements.
- Permanent salaries are full-time roles. Part-time and pro-rata are excluded, since mixing them in drags the median below what a full-time job pays.

Why we send these rather than show them
A median on a screen is easy to read as the answer. The same role prices differently for a September start than a January one, on a rural site than a city one, and in a subject where only a handful of people in the region hold the qualification. The report carries the range, the sample behind it and the basis it is measured on, so the figure arrives with the things that decide whether it applies to you.
Some of it is worth a conversation. Where a cell rests on a small sample, or the quartiles sit a long way apart, or you are hiring somewhere the market is thin, the number is a starting point rather than a conclusion. We would rather say so than have you plan a budget around it.
If you would rather not give an email, the per-subject pay guides are open to everyone.
